PDP denies alleged attack on APC supporters at Ifelodun INEC secretariat

Our attention has been drawn to a misleading and mischievous story being circulated online since the early hours of today, Wednesday, 3rd September 2025, by some APC-sponsored media handlers. The report falsely alleges that PDP thugs loyal to the Executive Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government, Otunba Sarafadeen Abiodun Awotunde, stormed the INEC office and unleashed terror on an APC councillor and others.
Ordinarily, we would have ignored such baseless propaganda, but in the interest of unsuspecting members of the public who may be misled by this fabrication, it has become necessary to set the record straight.

For clarity, since the commencement of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise over two weeks ago, Otunba Awotunde has not set foot in or around the Ifelodun INEC office. In contrast, it is the sacked Yes/No Chairman and his entourage that usually go to INEC office almost everyday for photo shopping and undue attention.

The allegation that Otunba led or sponsored any attack is not only false but a deliberate attempt to malign his image and distract from the ongoing peaceful voter registration exercise. In fact, it is the same injured Mr. Taiwo Kazeem that brought weapons to INEC office.

We wish to state categorically that Otunba Sarafadeen Abiodun Awotunde is a law-abiding citizen of Osun State and Nigeria at large. He has consistently demonstrated belief in democratic principles, the rule of law, and the fundamental freedoms of association and movement. He will never sponsor violence or condone thuggery under any guise. The APC media boys should be asked to provide a pictorial evidence to back their claims

We therefore urge the public to disregard this unfounded report in its entirety. It is nothing but a cheap blackmail orchestrated by political desperadoes who are already intimidated by the overwhelming acceptance of the PDP and the sterling leadership of Otunba Awotunde in Ifelodun Local Government.

Finally, we call on security agencies to thoroughly investigate this matter and bring to book those peddling lies capable of causing unnecessary tension in our peaceful community. Mr Taiwo Kazeem was injured by the weapons he brought to INEC office to disrupt the process. The security agencies are on ground at INEC office to maintain peace and orderliness, so they should ask them if Otunba Awotunde even set foot at INEC office since the commencement of the exercise.

Signed:

Media Unit,
Office of the Executive Chairman
Ifelodun Local Government.
