Osun 2026: ADC endorses Agiri for Deputy Governorship position

Osun 2026: ADC endorses Agiri for Deputy Governorship position
The leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Osun State has endorsed Hon (Mrs) Oluwayemisi Temitope Agiri as the Deputy Governorship candidate of the party in the August 8, 2026 governorship election in Osun State.

The party, in a letter signed by the state chairman, Dr Charles Idowu Omidiji addressed to the National leadership of the party urged the party's leadership at the national level to embrace the choice of Mrs Agiri as the running mate to the governorship candidate of the party, Dr Najeem Salaam.

The letter was also endorsed by all the members of the State Working Committee (SWC) and chairmen of the party in all the 30 Local Government Areas of the state.

The party said the choice of Mrs Agiri will boost the chances of the party in the forthcoming election in the state considering her gender and antecedence as a grassroot politician.

Mrs Agiri who hails from Ila-Orangun in Ila Local Government Area of the state is considered to be the most appropriate person due to her loyalty to the party and acceptability by all members of the party across the state.

The state party chairman said the leadership of the party at the national level will do the state a lot of good if Mrs Agiri is considered the deputy governorship candidate of ADC as she has all that it takes to deliver.

He said the entire party structure in the state is in firm support of Mrs Agiri, assuring that she would serve the party well if considered for the position.

He added that "since Dr Najeem Salaam who is from Osun West senatorial district has emerged the governorship candidate of the party, the best is for a Christian from Osun central senatorial district to be chosen as his running mate and that is why we are in support of Mrs Agiri."

The party leader also informed that Mrs Agiri has already impacted on the lives of the people as she had embarked on empowerment programmes for the people of the state in the past.
