OSUN ALGON UNMASK, EXPOSES APC'S PLAN TO HIJACK LOCAL GOVERNMENTS FUNDS
The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Osun State has sounded the alarm over a sinister plot to divert local government funds into private pockets. This scheme, allegedly masterminded by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and facilitated by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), threatens the very fabric of our local governments.
According to ALGON, the CBN has opened accounts for local governments in Osun State, with signatories being APC members who are impersonating statutory civil servants. This is a brazen illegality, disregarding subsisting court judgments and banking rules. The intent is clear: to divert Osun people's money to private and political pockets.
The APC chairmen backing the alleged impersonators were previously sacked by court judgments in November 2022 and June 2025. Despite this, they continue to parade themselves as local government chairmen, constituting an assault on our courts and a criminal attempt to hijack public resources.
ALGON demands that the CBN immediately close the allegedly illegal accounts and investigate the matter. The Association also calls on the CBN Governor to probe the actions of its officials in Osogbo and summon APC lawyer Kunle Adegoke to substantiate his claims on national television.
ALGON Osun asserts its legitimacy as the authority recognized by law to administer local government funds. Civil servants, not politicians, are the lawful signatories to local government accounts. ALGON has provided documents to prove its legitimacy, including certificates of return and court judgments.
This unfolding scandal constitutes not only impersonation but a deliberate attempt to divert public funds. It is a matter of national importance that must be urgently investigated. The people of Osun State deserve transparency and accountability in the management of their resources.
ALGON questions why the office of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and the CBN have singled out Osun State and its Local Governments in the disbursement of allocations through hurriedly opened illegal accounts. While all other 35 states continue to receive their monthly allocations through the State-Local Government Joint Accounts, Osun State is being unfairly targeted.
ALGON assures the people of Osun State that it will not relent in defending the mandate freely given to us and in protecting the collective patrimony of our local governments. Justice must prevail, and the resources of our local governments belong to our people, not to impostors and their collaborators.
The people of Osun State deserve better. ALGON will continue to fight for transparency, accountability, and the rule of law. We demand that the authorities take immediate action to address this scandal and protect the resources of our local governments.
