Eburu reacts to flooding in Iba, Calls for calm

Eburu of Iba reacts to flooding in Iba
Calls for calm
It is pertinent to inform the good people of Iba that the unfortunate flooding that took over the Inisha-Obaagun road was occasioned by the incessant rain that continue to fall for quite some days now and all hands are on deck to control the flooding.

Please be informed that our father, the Eburu of Iba, Oba (Prof) Adekunle Adeogun Okunoye Oyedeji 11 in his capacity as the traditional head of the town has taken the bull by the horn to ensure that Aisin river is dredged in order to give way for easy movement of passengers and vehicles especially during heavy and continuous rain like we have in the recent time.

Recall that the government had once dredged Aisin river and this was about three years ago. The current situation can be likened to force majeure which was due to non stop rain.

It's therefore important for our people to remain calm and peaceful as all the relevant agencies of government have swung into action upon the prompt information relayed to them by Baba Eburu.

Kindly be informed that the Kabiyesi, the Eburu of Iba has been in contact with all relevant agencies of government and top government officials at both the local and state levels and on the spot assessment has been done in order to enable the government finds lasting solution to the challenge and forestall future occurrence.

While this raises a serious concern for us as a community, it also provides opportunity for government to revise the reconstruction plan of Inisa-Iba-Iree road to include flood control.

We are reliably aware that the construction of the road will soon start after raining season. We, therefore wish to appreciate the Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke and the entire members of the State Executive Council for their swift response.

We thank the Honorable Commissioner for Environment and the Director in charge of Flood control in the Ministry for their prompt attention.

It is on this note that the Eburu of Iba, who is the paramount ruler of the town wishes to caution the members of the community to stay away from the river and avoid passing the road which is already flooded.

Also, Kabiyesi advised those who have farms around the river to avoid going to farms in the area till the flooding is controlled, believing that the necessary efforts of government will soon yield good results
